1945 Press Photo Australian soldier shares his food with natives in Borneo

This is an original press photo. Borneo (Natives). Borneo. A soldier of the Australian ninth infantry division, which landed on Brunei Bay in Borneo on June 10th, willingly shares his canned rations with a hungry native family on the island. When the Aussies moved inland from the landings they found the natives hungry, many sick, and in most instances, without shelter. The British civil affairs unit in Borneo has taken over the care of these people. Photo measures 8.5 x 6.75inches. Photo is dated 6-22-1945.
