MEDIA GRADING

Physical media is a big part of what we deal in. Records, tapes, CDs, VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray, and even Laser Disc. Our inventory ranges from used to brand new. But, we are not professional graders. All of our determinations are made by a thorough visual inspection and in some cases, play-grading. We use the Goldmine/Discogs standard with the inclusion of “Excellent” to fit between Very Good Plus (VG+) and Near Mint (NM).You can look up the Goldmine descriptions at goldminemag dot com slash collector-resources/record-grading-101. eBay does not allow direct links and does not have their own guidelines posted. Below is a quick summation.

Mint (M)

A Mint item is perfect. It’s never been played, and it might’ve never been removed from its package. It’s fully sealed, and it has no blemishes or audio/video distortions. Mint items are rare. Even brand new/sealed items can have imperfections that knock them out of this category.

Near Mint (NM)

A Near Mint item looks glossy and almost new, and it’s clearly only been played several times. NM items have little to no markings, and its package is either untouched or nearly untouched. A NM item is imperfect only in its one-or-two-time use.

Excellent (E)

An Excellent item may have light marks that will be difficult to spot. Vinyl records will have little surface noise. A lot of EX-graded media has been in and out of their sleeve/case only a handful of times, and have been extremely well-kept.

Very Good Plus (VG+)

The next step down, a VG+ item, has few faults. It doesn’t, however, have compromised audio or video quality. A VG+ item may have several marks, such as a very light surface scratch or scuff. Records may have minor surface noise. Cases and sleeves show shelf wear.

Very Good (VG)

A VG-rated item has experienced a lot of use, but it’s still useable. A record may have a pop or click, and there may be more signs of age or wear. Cases or jackets may have some corner wear or creasing, or minor seam splitting. These items still have life left in them, though.

Good (G) or Good Plus (G+)

“Good” in the grading context is not good. A G or G+ rated item will have scratches or scuffs that are plainly visible, and the jackets/cases will have seen better days. G+ is often used as a catch-all when the media is in far better shape than the casing, but it may still have blemishes.

Poor (P) or Fair (F)

A P or F rating reflects an item of poor condition. We rarely sell an item in this condition unless it’s rare and still sought after.

All of our prices reflect the condition of the media. Playback results vary from turntable to turntable.

SHIPPING POLICY:

We will do our best to get items shipped as fast as possible. Media ships the next business day. All other items will ship between 1-3 business days depending on how difficult it is to pack. But- we pride ourselves in being FAST.

RETURN POLICY:

If you’re not 100% satisfied with your purchase, we encourage you to send the item back to us, on us, for 30 days after purchse. Just print out a shipping ticket through eBay, put it back in a box, and send it back. Once we receive the item in the same condition it was shipped in, we will refund you completely. No hassle, no hemming and hawing.
