This is a wonderful basket top gold lacquered Chinoiserie bracket / mantel clock which has been made in the later 17th century style and dates to circa 1920. This is a beautifully detailed piece as can be seen from the photographs. This is a timepiece so does not strike the hours.
The top has a lovely Georgian basket top finished with a decorative handle and has been detailed with a Chinese scene to the front. The dial is made from brass with engraved spandrels to the four corners and nicely engraved to the center. The chapter ring is set out with Roman numerals above and has lovely period hands. Around the dial again has superb gold lacquer and Chinoiserie detailing. As you move to the sides the gold lacquer and Chinoiserie detailing continues with houses, foliage and a fisherman The clock is then raised on four brass feet. This would make a wonderful addition to and mantelpiece or home.
The movement is 8 day and is a timepiece only, and is happily ticking away. The hands are altered and the clock is wound from the rear. The movement is stamped 'COVENTRY ASTRAL 11124'.

CONDITION: The case as you can see from the photographs is in lovely condition, there are just odd knocks / marks & rubs to the finished of the case commensurate with age and use.
