Just looking at this quilt makes me happy. I just love the colors and the mix of patterns. There are so many patterns here, I stopped counting at 35 different patterns / colorways. There are novelty prints, florals, geometrics, and stripes and checks. A little bit of everything! My favorite are the duck with a bonnet on, Mary had a little lamb, and a really pretty bright pink and orange and blue floral. They're just so many colors on this, but the person who made this managed to make it look really cohesive. It's a beautiful piece.

This quilt is most likely from the 1930s or 1940s. The woman who owned it was born in the early 1930s. Each square is approximately 2 and 1/2" wide. The overall piece is approximately 34" x 47". It is hand tied, not quilted. There is no batting inside. It is more of a summer weight baby blanket quilt. The blanket weighs about 12 ounces. The back is a very nice soft flannel. Most likely this quilt was hand sewn but I can't see any of the stitches except on the edge where the flannel has been edged onto the blanket and that looks hand sewn. I took a close up of the edge stitches in one picture.

I do not see any stains or rips, but there's so many patterns I could have missed a stain. So there may be a stain or two, as this has been used and loved. It does have a slight storage smell.
