From original glass plate negative.

You are buying a modern photographic print on Kodak Professional Endura paper. This image is copyrighted by McBride/Publisher and is not for publication without our written permission. See below for more details.

Prints are created by our contract laboratory with printers that expose light sensitive paper that is then run through a chemical process. These are real photographs, not inkjet prints.

The source of this photograph is an original glass plate negative or original celluloid negative. The negative was scanned on our Microtek ScanMaker 9600XL scanner at 600dpi, tidied up with PhotoShop software to remove blemishes, hickeys, dust motes and emulsion flaws.

Glass dry plate negatives were most popular from the 1880s through the 1920s. By the 1920s, many professional photographers had adopted the Kodak or other celluloid film as their medium of choice. In many cases, it is quite possible this negative was printed once when originally made, then stored away until now. And, because of the decades or more since that first print was made, this print is perhaps the only version of the original available today.

This negative was one of several thousand purchased in central Connecticut at the dispersal auction of a life-long collector and from other local sources, and could have been from anywhere. If any information was attached or associated with this image, it is stated in the description. Of course, as the previous owner was based in New England, many of the images are likely from that region. If you recognize people, places or can narrow down the date or content of the photograph, we’d like to hear from you.

One of the fascinating aspects of these old images is that, in many cases, they are the only evidence that the people, places and events pictured existed in time and place.

The size stated in the title here is the size of the paper, with a minimum ¼” border provided on all margins to facilitate full-image matting and framing. Other sizes are available: see our other listings in our ebaY Store under Photographs.

COPYRIGHT NOTICE: We are selling you this print dealer to collector and this print is not for publication without written permission from us. If you wish to use it in print, please make inquiry prior to publication. In some cases, a fee will be requested for its use, typically a nominal sum, plus a half-dozen examples of the finished product in which it was used.

CAUTION: We are vigilant about unauthorized use of our photographs and will pursue those who take advantage of us. So please, don’t do it.

WATERMARK: The watermark you see in the image here is NOT present in the finished print.
PLEASE NOTE: From time to time, fulfillment of your purchase of one or more of our photographs from glass plates may be delayed a few extra days for this reason: many of these photos are being printed for the first time and we must order them from our contract lab in Minnesota. They are usually quick to print and send an order, but, now and then, a weekend interferes, thus delaying forwarding to you. Please be patient.

Terms Of Sale

SHIPPING

Standard shipping with DELIVERY CONFIRMATION & TRACKING BY USPS to all United States destinations including possessions anywhere in the world. For orders valued $100 and above, we insure them at our expense.

We ship promptly using most efficient rate, so all shipped items are guaranteed to be returned to us by the USPS if not deliverable as addressed. Undeliverable items returned to us for incorrect address, moved-left-no-forwarding, etc., may require additional payment for redelivery. You will be notified.

SALES to USA ONLY.

Due to an unacceptably high number of delays and non-delivery of items in other lands resulting in disgruntlement and loss of revenue & merchandise, we no longer offer our goods to buyers outside the United States & its possessions.

A combination of increased postal security, the requirement by the USPS for Customs Declarations on all packages & packets, and the lack of recognition of that Customs Declaration as Proof of Mailing by the powers that be, prevent us from being an international seller any longer.

We appreciate your past purchases, loyalty and repeat business and we will miss you. Perhaps you can find an American agent who can buy on your authorization, receive the item and send it along to you.

Thanks for looking.

FEEDBACK

Please understand that the time required to place over 1200+ feedbacks each month would reduce the number of items we could catalog and offer to buyers like you. We apologize if this is not what you would prefer us to do, but we cannot get around it as a general policy. We thank you when you pay for an item and we mean it. Thanks!
