This listing is for Richard Simmons Sweatin' To The Oldies Aerobic Exercise VHS 4 Tape Lot.

* Richard Simmons Sweatin' to the Oldies [VHS]

Richard Simmons is the king of motivational exercise, especially if you're a beginner. This video workout is a dance party simulating a class reunion, with an energizing live band playing lively hits from the '50s and '60s, such as "It's My Party and I'll Cry If I Want To," "Great Balls of Fire," and "Dancing in the Streets." The singers and musicians sometimes come offstage and dance with the exercisers, adding to the energy and festivity. The choreography is very simple, low impact, light intensity, and appropriate for beginners and overweight exercisers. (You may not get your heart rate up if you're very fit, although you'll enjoy the music.) Richard doesn't do much in the way of cueing--he assumes you'll just follow along. His onscreen class has women and men of all body shapes and sizes, and everyone is having a blast. You will, too. At the end, the exercisers dance down the floor and the screen flashes how many pounds they've lost--several have lost more than 100 pounds. (22 minutes of aerobics, total 43 minutes with warm-up, cool down, and stretch.)

* Sweatin to the Oldies 2 [VHS]

Rock to the oldies as Richard Simmons leads a great low-impact workout designed to increase cardiovascular fitness and strengthen muscles.  "Sweatin' to the Oldies 2" combines low-impact aerobics (about 30 min.) with toning (about 15 min.) to hit tunes such as, "Locomotion," "Windy," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Respect," "Breakin' Up Is Hard To Do," and "Pretty Woman." Richard Simmons leads the exercise fun with real people of all shapes and sizes. The dance steps are easy after following the routines a few times. I have used this video to improve my overall fitness, including weight loss, and it has worked! I highly recommend this video, as well as the original "Sweatin' to the Oldies 1."  Richard's tapes are fun to do. There is a pretty steep learning curve, but they are a blast once you get the routines down. This one includes (brief) upper and lower body toning. The routine is fun and flows well. Don't expect consistent mirror cueing though. That's not Richard's strong point. But if you're looking for support, enthusiasm, and real people (instead of hard bodies), I highly recommend Richard's aerobics tapes and especially this one (and Dance Your Pants Off for more advanced exercisers). I'd rate this as good for Beginners to Intermediate.
