In 2013 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Benjamin Britten, the Royal Mint released a special Limited Issue Brilliant Uncirculated 50p Fifty Pence Coin First Day Cover.

The reverse designed by Tom Phillips celebrates Britten's work with some of the words he set to music in 'Serenade' by the poet Tennyson and is the first time a composer has been featured on a UK coin.

The obverse design is the stunning portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank Broadley.
