This auction is for quite a large Chinese black lacquer box with fitted lid. As you can see in my photographs there is a very high quality Mother-of-Pearl decoration on the lid. I am not sure how old this item is, but at a guess I would say early 20th Century or maybe even older.

It was very difficult to photograph this box due to the high gloss lacquer. I can confirm the general condition is good with No Repairs. The Mother-of-Pearl decoration is all present, with no losses and no loose pieces. The only flaws are to the black lacquer, which has lifted off in a couple of areas. The box itself including the lid is all very solid with no splits to the wooden substrate. This box was wrapped in newspaper and in storage for the past 35 odd years. The newspaper had attached to the lacquer, mainly to the interior and there are limescale type surface marks. I'm pretty sure the lacquer surface can be treated and cleaned, however I have not attempted to do so and have left it as is. Lastly, there are scratches and scuffs.
