CORONATION PHOTO ALBUM CHARM

FOR EDWARD VII

A fascinating piece.

 

One of five similar commemorative items

we bought from the same estate years ago.

 

This one is a souvenir photograph album

charm made to commemorate the

 coronation of King Edward VII.

 

The cover was finished in red enamel with

a royal blue enamel crown and the king's

 monogram, EA (Edward Albert), over the

 year, 1902.  

 

The back features a cross like design.

 

Inside there would have been a few

photos but now only two badly deteriorated

photos remain of the then Prince and

Princess of Wales – the future George V

and his wife Mary of Teck.

 

There would have been photos of

 King Edward VII himself and Alexandra

of Denmark, his wife as well as two more,

possibly Queen Victoria and Edward as

a little boy.

 

Crafted in base metal or brass and secured

closed by a little catch on the side.

 

 

CONDITION

In poor condition with signs of

age and use.

 

The enamel is damaged on the front

and the two remaining photos are in

 bad condition.

 

The catch still works but not as well

as it once would have.

 

Still retains its original suspension ring

which is a minor miracle in itself.

It measures approximately:

 

1.9cm (3/4") high x 1.7cm (5/8”) wide

 

2.7cm (1") long

with suspension ring

 

 

Weight is: 5.9 grams
