On the front:  Lazaro Cardenas.  Considered the last great president.  He is best known for having nationalized the petroleum industry, therefore making Mexico the first country to do that.

On the back:  Hayasgos del Templo Mayor,  Aztec ruins.


These were made by El Banco de Mexico, used in the 80s and early 90s, and are no longer used today.  They were replaced in 1993, by the "New Peso", "Nuevos pesos"
