Kenner Mayor Joseph Yenni officiated at ceremonies marking the opening of the new Sheraton Inn near New Orleans International Airport. State Senator Joseph Tiemann was master of ceremonies and Lieutenant Governor James E. Firzmorris Jr., congratulated the owners, Jacob Senter, New Orleans attorney, and R.A. McLeod, local developer and communications investor, for their "new spirit and confidence in the future" in building the new eight-story hotel.7tiemann supervised the release of a helium-filled balloon tied with a key which floated skyward symbolizing he never-locked front door of the inn.
