this item was part of an accumulation of personal items I bought about 15 years ago from the children's artists couple Evans Krehbiel and Rebecca Becky Krehbiel. They did extensive work in comic strips, coloring books, Jack and Jill, company publications and advertising (7UP, WGN, Chiclets, Mrs Grass soups, others), etc. They appear to have worked from the Chicago area and also did work for the Chicago Tribune and WGN TV (see obituary info further down). Items in this collection range from late 1940s to late 1960s and include original art (complete, sketches and roughs), TV show footage, proofs, mechanical art, letters from companies regarding their work, comic glass slides, newspaper ads and so on.

Here is info from her Apr 22, 2000 Chicago Tribune obituary :

Rebecca Falconer Krehbiel, 84, an artist who loved drawing for children and illustrated two syndicated features for the Chicago Tribune, died of cancer Tuesday, April 18, in her home. Born in Rochester, N.Y., Mrs. Krehbiel grew up in Evanston and later lived in Park Ridge and Geneva. She met her husband, Evans, while taking classes at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The two would go to the Fox River Valley and paint together, her children said, often interpreting the same subjects in different mediums. One of Mrs. Krehbiel's first jobs was as an artist with Tinker Toys in Evanston, designing labels and instructions for toys. She later illustrated the syndicated stick-figure "Dear Diary" for more than 15 years for the Tribune. She then illustrated "Play Funnies," a weekly Tribune feature with activities for children. "She would describe herself as a children's artist," said her son Courtney Evans Krehbiel. Mrs. Krehbiel illustrated children's books and coloring books and volunteered her artistic abilities whenever she could. "She just loved to do art," said her daughter Rebecca Krehbiel Ryan. "She couldn't write a letter without putting a picture on it." Mrs. Krehbiel devoted much of her time recently to promoting and restoring the work of the late Albert Krehbiel, her father-in-law and a Chicago artist, a project for which she was developing brochures, a coffee-table book and gallery shows.
