♠ 1st Marine Division Private First Class USMC David Bigelow Lewman’s World War II USMC 1944 Lower Combat Pack.

♠ David grew up in Charlestown, Indiana. He enlisted in the Marines on December 29, 1941.

♠ David participated in the initial landing against Japanese Forces during the Battle of Cape Gloucester on December 26, 1942.

♠ David also participated in the initial landing against Japanese Forces during the Battle of Peleliu on September 15, 1944.

♠ After serving 2 years and 6 months overseas, David was Honorably Discharged on October 19, 1945.

§ "D. B. Lewman" is stamped on the lower front of the pack. There is a tear in the lower left side of the pack. "U.S.M.C. Boyt 44" is stamped on the inside pack flap.
