OLD CIRCUS MEMORABILIA

IS RAPIDLY DISAPPEARING

Well folks, down below is what I started writing until I ran across this statement

"The next year (1916) the 101 Ranch had the show.

This was the start of the great Fort Worth Rodeos."

Well, I remember reading about the old Northside Coliseum Stock Show at Ft. Worth, Texas which was held in the spring of 1915 but I never knew about the 101 founding the Ft. Worth Rodeo. I spent some time researching the Fabulous Empire by Michael Wallis and he or his book sure doesn’t give credit but the author of this story was THERE. And, he was also at the old Wild West Show at the Wichita Falls, Texas ball park and a bunch of others. Here is why I love these old westerns in this great, documented (and for the first time, INDEXED BELOW) entitled CIRCUSES AND CONTESTS by Milt Hinkle which is a rare history of the early western circus and wild west ranch show.

NAMES – OF THE COWBOY GREATS AND NEAR GREATS – THE INDIAN PRINCESSES (straight from a Georgia cotton mill). There’s stuff here you would never find looking for it. For instance ever heard of the freak swell fork saddle – well it was invented by and called the Fay Ward Special and this author swears that the inventor and saddle were a great cowboy duo.

IT’S A ONE OF KIND STORY

Please read this. There were many a western story published – the common ones about Cowboys and Indians are listed on Ebay every day but the rarer ones about the old circuses and wild west shows of the old west like this one are seldom found. (AND I HAVE INDEXED THEIR NAMES BELOW – FOR THE FIRST TIME) . Collectors treasure them and their price guide value rises every day. They are hard to find. I hunt them out because really the better, untold and rarer stories were published in the rest.

Here’s one of ‘em.

Following my retirement, I have dedicated my remaining hours to indexing the Genealogy of our western pioneers. During my research, I discovered that thousands of our kinfolk lay unfound and unrecognized on some book dealer’s shelf gathering dust. Because Old Western History and Memorabilia was printed before computer indexing, I index every item I sell.

This complete index will be bound and included in this offering at no additional cost.

Humbly, I am trying to keep our history alive.

I hope you appreciate the effort.

CIRCUSES AND CONTESTS

By Milt Hinkle

While others clip ads from magazines, I save history. It’s a shame that our past is being lost. It’s as simple as that.

My wife kids me that after I find a piece I like, buy it, read it, research it, take a picture, scan it, write the blurb, pay the Ebay entry fee and commission, that I end up making about 50 cents an hour. But, OH HOW I LOVE THIS OLD WESTERN HISTORY. What a story, Rare Story!!! Great Pictures. You will love it as it was published in this old complete western magazine of many years ago. The issue is in excellent condition, the cover is pristine and in vibrant color.

As clearly stated in my description, this is featured story in a rarely found and seldom read unusual and complete western magazine. I don't give out name of publication or date because I have caught competitors copying my index and work and trying to sell it as theirs. I hope you understand.

 Thanks,

Tom
