Very rare and wonderful, ca1870’s Large Size, Setter / Dog on Platform Pull Toy manufactured by George Brown of Forestville, Connecticut. Offered here is the largest size Pull Toy that George Brown ever manufactured at 15” long and approx. 14” tall.

This outstanding, mid 19th century, Pull Toy measures approx. 14" tall overall and 15” long at the base. The Toy features a 13 ½” long Dog that has been identified as a representation of a Setter standing atop a platform that retains its original, die cast wheels. The Dog has a saddle/platform on the center of its back and our research has discovered examples of this Toy manufactured by George Brown both with and without a tin jockey or circus performer figure riding on its back.

While this wonderful, American Folk Art Tin Pull Toy is unmarked in any way, it has been documented as having been manufactured by George Brown in the mid-19th century and the Toy has been identified as the largest Platform Pull Toy ever manufactured by George Brown.

This charming and very rare, ca1870’s George Brown Pull Toy is in very good condition. The Dog lacks its original, applied tail but otherwise the Toy is intact and complete with no other physical damage and no repairs of any kind. The surface paint is 100% original and the surfaces have never been repainted, restored, touched up or altered in any way. The surface paint on one side of the Toy is quite well preserved while the other side of the Toy retains only remnants of its original surface paint (see the scans below). As stated above, the Dog has a saddle / platform at the center of its back and may be lacking a separately manufactured, tin jockey figure or circus performer. Important Notes about Shipping Charges:

The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by eBay and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 "packing fee" - the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.
