covering Soviet medium tanks in WWII, namely the T-28, T-34-76, T-34-85 and
T-44. The T-34 and its variants formed the bulk of the Soviet tank force in the
Great Patriotic War.
Its speed, firepower and
mobility were superior to its German counterpart in the early stages of the
war. Most importantly, the simple design of the T-34 tanks gave the Soviets the
numerical superiority that helped to halt the German Advances and later turn
the tide of the war. The T-34-85 fought alongside the IS-2 against the German
heavy tanks towards the end of the war.
Steven Zaloga, a
noted expert in Soviet armor, is again the main author for this book. The core
of this book consists of over 170 new photographs, never before published,
located in archives in Russia, Poland and Czechoslovakia. These photos are
invaluable to modelers and historians alike.
