1978 Press Photo Front Porch with Rocking Chairs in Dade City - afa53583
Peace and quiet, rolling countryside and a friendly eating place are among the reasons the writer tries to keep the realities of Dade City secret. Dade City - Dade City, friends told me, was a place populated by rednecks whose most prized piece of clothing was a John Deere cap and by a handful of landowners jealously resentful of outsiders who might interfere with the status quo. Dade City, they said, was a place so deprived of culture that Velveeta was on the gourmet shelf in the grocery store, and the streets were empty on the nights that those lucky enough to have electricity invited their friends and neighbors over to watch Hee Haw. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo Is dated 1978.
