The bracket covers the edge of the shelf. The shelf can be cut to desired width and the cut edge will be concealed.

Suitable for 7 1/2" deep ekby shelves with a thickness of 1".

Different wall materials require different types of fasteners. Use fasteners suitable for the walls in your home (not included). If you are uncertain about what type of mounting devices to use, please contact your local hardware store.

(Review) We purchased these brackets after seeing them on the IkeaHackers site, to make climbing shelves and perches for our cats. We anchored the brackets into drywall with drywall anchors and screws. We used one set of brackets to put up one small, carpeted shelf just above our corner cat condo. We used another set of brackets to put up a long shelf adjacent to a large, high window box to allow the cats to go up and sleep there, look out into the back yard, etc. For the larger shelf we used small supporting brackets to bolster the middle of the shelf.

So far, the shelves have proven to be very sturdy and the brackets are holding up well for two 10 - 12 pound cats who seem to love it, and use the shelves on a daily basis.
