1977 Ford escort mk2 Panel van
Imported into the UK in 2017 by the first keeper from south Africa, who registered it and carried out some body and engine work, I first saw the van in 2020 when we first met the owner on a different matter and over the next three years persistently kept trying to buy it, until one day he rang me to say he was ready for it to go. Which is when we got it. So this is a very reluctant sale.
The body work has just undergone a full body refresh with new Panels being fabricated and welded in where needed then refinished in Diamond white. It was stripped down to a rolling shell all the doors, glass and bonnet were removed to do a proper job. The car was built back up with new parts where needed including all glass rubbers having to be imported from Australia, new jbw 15-inch rs2000 style wheels with brand new toyo proxes tyres. It also has genuine Mexico rubber front spoiler along with Mexico quarter bumpers. As you will see from the photos the rear door has been modified and has “Ford Motor company LTD England” embossed into the metal work that was done by the guy who brought it into this country back in 2017 along with an auto transmission tunnel so is wider to take the type 9 gear box I have all the phots of this work being carried out.
The engine is a 2.0 205 block pinto with +90 flat top pistons, big valve head built by motor scope, ported, and polished, race cam, rs2000 sump, Cosworth water pump, Webber 48 down drafts, Tony law manifold with a full stainless exhaust and bestek electronic ignition system. The van is very powerful and great to drive to go along with the engine modification it has had Rs2000 crossmember, 22mm rs2000 anti roll bar, rs2000 engine mounts, anti-dive kit, quick rack, bias pedal box, works Girling cast reservoir pots all on bulk head fittings, type 9 5 speed gear box, single piece prop, 4.1lsd, strengthened rear axles with rs2000 shafts, tramp bars, Sierra rear disc conversion, princess 4 pot callipers on front with capri 2.8 vented discs, Large body Leda front coil over legs with rebound adjustment, spherical roller bearing top mounts, so it goes, stops and handles very well making it very fun and enjoyable to drive.
The interior of the van has Full Rs2000 five dial dash that are all working there is no rips or marks to the dash top and is in good condition, glove box, clock pod, and is fitted with dark grey fiesta turbo seats that again are in good condition with slight were to the drivers bolster as can be seen in the photos. Black carpet and door cards the door have opening quarter light windows. The rear of the van has just been fitted out with smoke grey acoustic carpet again I have photos of the bed and rear of the van before hand so the potential buys can so the condition of the bed under the carpet that is Lovley with no corrosion or rot.
Overall, this is a very good van that is in superb condition ready to be used and with the upgrades it has had done makes it very fun and driveable, and must be seen to be apricated. Is has mot till the 13.03.2025 all though it is mot exempted we felt the need to put a mot for peace of mind for the buyer. Viewing is highly recommended and can be arranged for most times. I am not far from Newcastle airport and train station so can collect potential buys from either.
