GENEALOGY NAMES HEREIN INDEXED BELOW

As many of you know, I specialize in finding old American stories of long ago that have been overlooked, seldom found and rarely read. Here is the story entitled “The Great Hanging at Gainesville, October, 1862” the sad story of the hanging of 40 citizens – most on a giant elm tree on the banks of Pecan Creek at the east edge of Gainesville. This is adopted from the introduction to the author’s book “Civil War Recollections of James Lemuel Clark.”

Nathaniel Miles Clark, one of those hanged, was the father of James Lemuel Clark and grandfather of the author.  Because many of the old American magazines and books were not indexed and the public figures that made the news have been lost to posterity, I index every item I sell. See below for index of this great story. Your great-grandpa might be there!
