Camden Town, the arse-end of the sixties. Two struggling, unemployed actors decide some respite is in order and so depart their miserable flat for a week in the Lake District – one that will involve rain, booze, minimal supplies, a randy bull and an even randier Uncle Monty.
Based on the real-life experiences of former actor turned writer/director Bruce Robinson, Withnail and I has become one of British cinema's most fondly remembered comedies. A cult film in the truest sense that has also become a classic.
Perfectly cast – with career-defining roles for Richard E. Grant, Paul McGann, Richard Griffiths and Ralph Brown – and crammed with irresistibly quotable dialogue, Withnail and I is a sheer delight, even on the umpteenth viewing.
VERY GOOD. Customized ‘Design 2’ (dart board) of this cult classic in a 200-page coffee book style. Of the four customized design offered, this ‘dart board’ copy is number 144 of 160 made. Given that it was personalized, it includes a name printed on the back of slipcover (back, top-left) and will be sold as is. Photos shows name digitally crossed only, but a new name can easily be affixed over with a small label if desired. This copy has some cosmetic damage to the hardcover, mainly front top-left and bottom-left, as well as on the reverse, and corresponding area on the slipcover. This is how it was received from the UK. Please refer to all photos in listing. The book and pages itself however are in like-new condition with no tear or damage whatsoever. The 4-disc set are housed individually on sturdy cardboard pages on the back of the book utilizing secure and safe centered foam hubs. Discs have never fallen off. The last photo illustrates the cover of ‘Design 1’ not part of this listing; just informational purposes.
