1963 Press Photo Residents of Fairhope, Alabama go fishing at Mobile Bay

This is an original press photo. A single word spoken over the telephone at 3 in the morning can cause residents of the Fairhope, Ala., area to jump madly out of bed, dash to the garage for burlap sacks, wake up neighbors and hurry to the shore of Mobile Bay to go wading for three hours. The word is "Jubilee!" It means that tens of thousands of perfectly edible fish are lying along shore in an almost motionless carpet of marine life that extends for miles. Weak and dazed, presumably from lack of oxygen, the fish will lie there helpless for hours. Photo measures 7.75 x 10 inches. Photo is dated 7-21-1963.

Part Number: nob82091
