This is a Savana 4 string banjo made in the 1920s by Rose brothers (later to become Rose and Morris).  The Savana badge can be seen on the machine head.  The resident band at the Savoy hotel in the 20s was the Havana big band and Rose brothers took the Savana name by mashing Savoy and Havana.

The instrument is in excellent condition for its age both structurally and cosmetically and plays with a good tone and plenty of volume.  The string action is low and is therefore an easy play

All metal parts are nice and shiny with all the bracket sets consistent with one another.  The metal resonator is an interesting feature as is the bone bridge.  With the exception of the new strings all parts seem to me to be original.

The banjo has a total length of 82cm and the pot is 28cm wide.  scale length measured from the nut to the 12th fret is  28.7cm and width of the neck at the nut is 3.1cm.  The metal resonator protrudes from the pot by about 2cm.

It will come well protected in the vintage case shown in one of the photos.
