In 1880, hair curling irons first appeared. Their inventor was the French hairdresser Marcel Grato. Thanks to his curling iron, it was possible to create artificial hair waviness that looked similar to natural hair. Before work, the tongs were heated on the stove, so that the styling looked beautiful and lasted for a long time, the master had to work with two tongs at the same time - one was heated on the stove, and he worked with the others.

In 1882, Marcel Grateau opened his own hairdressing salon in the center of Paris, and in 1897 his device was described in a magazine, and the first curling iron called “Marcel” went on sale. Just a year later, Marcel Grato became a millionaire - his invention was successfully sold around the world.
