This is a vintage Iwan Ries & Co (142) Pot style bowl tobacco smoking pipe.  It was made in France from Algerian Briar.  Iwan Ries is a tobaccoist  in Chicago, Illinois, USA.  The rim is in very good condition with very minor darkening.  The stem has been sanitized and waxed with carnuba wax. The stem is in very good condition with some chatter. The bowl has had an alcohol treatment to remove old tobacco. There is a superficial crack on the underside of the stummel.
