SWAROVSKI VIOLIN
WITH BOW, STAND
& BOX #203056
Swarovski crystal is
absolutely stunning.
All their pieces
flash and sparkle like
diamonds but sadly my
photography
skills can’t capture their brilliance.
This retired Swarovski crystal Violin
belongs to the “Crystal Melodies”
collection but is an extra special
version.
The “Crystal
Melodies” collection
consisted of a Piano,
Lute, Harp,
Saxophone and this
Violin.
(All but the harp has
a stand).
This Violin and stand
was produced
between 1992 and
2008.
This piece comes with the
beautifully
detailed Rhodium plated metal bow
stand and original box
AND
is engraved on the front right
corner
with a signature and year that
appear
to read:
G Stamey 97
which if this is correct is the designer’s
signature (Gabriele Stamey).
I cannot find another one for sale
that
has this signature.
In 1997 she designed her first
creation
for the Swarovski Crystal Collectors
Society
(a dragon) so perhaps this signed Violin
has something to do with this as it
is the same year.
Also has the Swan mark underneath of
course.
All the pieces are better in real
life than
photos could ever show in my
opinion.
Group photo near the end shows four
pieces from the Swarovski
Crystal Melodies Collection.
The violin, saxophone and lute are
being sold
separately but the harp (see group
photo)
has been broken and
glued back
together so not
saleable really but
if anyone buying any
of the three listed
items would like it
for free you’re very
welcome to it but as
the cylindrical boxes
are quite large it would add significantly
to the postage costs.
THE DESIGNER
Gabriele Stamey was born on May 22, 1956, in
Worgl, a small town in the foothills of the Austrian Tyrol. From an early age,
she followed her chosen vocation as an artist.
After an intensive four-year course of study
at the world famous technical school for glass craft and design in Kramsach,
she began her career specializing in free-blown goblets and between 1978 and
1986, she established a name for herself as a freelance glass designer.
In 1986, she was one of the first women to
join Swarovski’s design team, where she soon won recognition with her designs
for Silver Crystal.
Many Silver Crystal lovers still remember Gabriele Stamey’s first designs: the
Miniature Hen and the three Baby Chicks from the Barnyard Friends series and
the Miniature Cockerel, followed by the Train Set & Crystal City in the early 90’s. She then designed a
magnificent interpretation of the Santa Maria, the Cobra, Rooster &
many others
including the Crystal Melodies collection.
The 1997 Annual Edition (AE) Dragon was her
first creation for the Swarovski Collectors Society, followed by Columbine in
2000.
CONDITION
This Violin is in very good vintage condition.
No scratches or damage to the crystal
but it is ‘used’ so there is possibly a
miniscule mark or two somewhere on
it but I couldn’t see anything when
closely inspecting it – looks great-
see photos.
As mentioned it is signed with an engraved
signature and year.
It retains its original Rhodium plated metal
stand and cylindrical box – no certificates.
Box is a bit shabby but it is at least 20 years old.
DIMENSIONS
It measures approximately:
10.5cm (4 ¼ ") long
Unboxed it weighs: 59.2 grams
Box
weighs a little under 60 grams
TOTAL
WEIGHT approx: 119 grams
