Here’s a great-looking Peterson’s DE LUXE model pipe. The DE LUXE model is actually a pretty high grade in the line-up. I have included an old catalog page, and upper left is the highest DE LUXE at $15, the PREMIER SELECTION is $10, Sterling is $7.50, and Killarney at $5.95, back in the day. It’s made in the Republic of Ireland, and below the left side stamping shows it was made FOR SHANNON AIRPORT, probably a Peterson gift shop for the tourist trade. The shape is 417, mid-size slim Dublin with a long taper cut stem. Overall, the pipe is in excellent condition. The bowl shows normal mild signs of use, and no issues. The briar shows nice contrast with mixed grain patterns. The inside looks well-seasoned, and it draws easy, should be a fine smoker. The stem has some light tooth wear, nice shape. The draw hole is at bottom center. The pipe weighs in about 1.0 ounce. Draws easy, freshly polished and ready to smoke!
