  • Description: Beautiful gold coin showing no date from Venice Italy. This is a one Zecchino or Ducat from the times of Paolo Rainier in the period of 1779-1789. The coin shows Doge kneeling before St. Mark, who holds staff in right hand with the legend "PAVL*RAINER*| • S | • M | • V | ? | N | ? | T | I" with the letters DVX along the staff all on the obverse. The reverse shows full length Christ the Redeemer standing facing forward within beaded ellipse lined with 16 stars. The reverse has the legend "SIT·T·XPE·DAT·Q·TV REGIS·ISTE·DVCA" surrounding the image of Christ along the edge. The coin is undated but was issued during the period 1779-1789. The coin is much better than the photos suggest. It is graded as Mint State MS 62 by PCGS and comes encased in a plastic slab so labeled. It is a rather nice coin with good eye appeal. It is Fr. 1434, weighs ~3.5 grams as noted on the slab and measures ~20 mm. Please carefully review the photos provided as they are part and parcel of our description.

  • References: Fr. 1434, is KM 714, and is listed in Numista as N#?21675.

  • Condition: The coin is graded Mint State 62 or MS 62 by PCGS and comes in a plastic slab so labeled. It is in a nice state of preservation with no observable wear but shows some scratches and minor bag marks in the field. It has great eye appeal and would make a great addition to your collection.
