Winston Churchill, ‘London to Ladysmith’ first edition 1900. A rare copy of this early work by the young Churchill, documenting his experiences at the beginning of the Boer War in South Africa.

This is an ex library book, stamped ‘Dundee Public Library’ in a number of places, including the title page and inside the front cover (see photos). Unusually for a library book, however, the original fold out maps are intact, complete and undamaged.

This copy has a slight camber to the spine but it’s s otherwise clean, tight and complete. Stamped inside is a signed inscription stating ‘present to Dundee Public Library by Professor J E G Steggall’.
