3d0cean in house laser cut dual density filter pads to fit our 3d0cean chambers 1 and 2 media basket shelves. Have you wondered what to put in your baskets as far as media is concerned? Are you tired of mess, cut by hand pads that simply load up fast and can't be rinsed and reused? Your worries have now disappeared. These are the EXACT dual density pads that I have used in my personal Fluval Evo tanks for several years now. I too was tired of getting jagged, messy cuts with scissors or trying to cut with a straight edge and razor knife. Now the pads are available individually or in lots of 4. You can rinse these out several times in almost all instances and re-use them for weeks on end. I myself keep a bag of them ready, when one loads up, usually 3 days, maybe 4 tops, I pull it out and replace with a clean one. The dirty one then gets rinsed out and shaken out to fluff back up. I have tried dozens of other colors and types that claim to be 1" thick or better, only to be disappointed when after weeks of letting them fluff out, they're barely 3/4" thick at best. These are generally about 1.5" thick but can range from about 1.25" to 2" if you shake them out and really give them a fluffing. These are laser cut to be precisely fitted and have the 3d0 logo on the backsides. I will be working on a video to post soon that shows exactly how I clean mine and prep them for re-use. You basically just run warm tap water over them, tapping them against the sides of your sink until they run clear of any particles or debris. Water should go from a brown or possibly green-ish tint depending on the condition of your water (each system will vary), to clear. You can bleach them if you want that bright white tone back in the coarse top layer, but you must soak them in a de-chlorination solution to prevent problems in your tank. That is done so at YOUR OWN RISK. I personally don't use anything but tap water to rinse them out and clean them. Tapping them firmly while rinsing gets the vast majority of waste out, Pinch between your thumb and index finger, give them a light shaking to remove excess water and fluff them back up, then simply place in a windowsill or somewhere warm, preferably in direct sunlight and let them dry. The natural UV from the sun will kill anything else of concern. If you feel more comfortable, give them a final rinse in RO/DI water. Since these have been laser cut, there may be a slight odor to them, that is typical and not of concern. Let them air out if you wish as the smell will go away in time. It's simply because that isn't a blade cutting the pads, rather a very hot, concentrated laser beam and it burns right through. You may also see some yellowing around the top layer where the laser cut through, again, that's quite normal. **Aquarium, lid, light, pump and baskets are NOT INCLUDED. Only shown for reference purposes. You will receive the quantity of media pads you order, nothing more and nothing less.**
