About the Set:
The 1961 Fleer Basketball card set features a stunning design and is loaded with Hall of Fame players. Considered one of the "big three" vintage basketball sets, along with the 1948 bowman and 1957 Topps sets.  This was the first major Basketball set issued after the 1957 Topps set, leaving a 4-year gap, and the last major Basketball set released until the iconic 1969 Topps set came out.  The 66 card set came in five cent packs that included a stick of gum.  Each card measures 2.5"x3.5".  There are 44 standard issue cards that depict a picture of each player on a color background and 22 "In Action" cards which feature a live game photo of the more prominent stars at the time.  The key to the set is #8 Wilt Chamberlain rookie card.  There are also rookie cards of Hall of Famers Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, Bailey Howell, Hal Greer, K.C. Jones, Lenny Wilkens, Sam Jones, and Walt Bellamy. Overall there are 24 Hall of Fame players represented, with the most notable non-rookie card being #38 Bill Russell.
