Description

this tremendous Antique chinese molded sancai  figures from the Tang Dynasty ?  (all the pieces that I found with any of these figures is Tang.. but I cannot Authenticate this) Lamp with silk shade comes to me from an 83 year old consignor who was the granddaughter  of Elizabeth Schnaider  and Joseph Schnaider from St. Louis Missouri ( owners of the Green Tree Brewery and Beer Garden which was later sold to Anhauser Bush) who lived in one of the largest homes in St Louis .. on Westmoreland  and Portland Place . The lamp was passed down by her mother and has been in the family for over 100 years.. .Might have started its life as a vase? but has a lamp base and old electrical cord which is taped.. obviously working..and rewired but quite a while ago. Many different figures around the girth of the lamp.  which probably tell a story but I have no idea what that is. The condition is quite good for such an old daily used item..there is generalized crazing in the porcelain and there are some small losses near the top where the neck widens to meet the hardware.
Height of the  lamp / vase itself is 15" and the girth is 25" around the widest part.. height to top ofthe finial is 30"
the more current Asian inspired shade .. silk?.. is in decent not torn condition with a few small spots  mainly on the inside.. not sure what the finial is made of..I will pack this in a super large box with lots of bubbles to protect.. probably double boxed for safety and will require some insurance, all of which will be determined when the auction ends. Without a box, this weighs 5 kg.
Happy to sell this lamp locally so that it won't need to be packed and shipped.
