Rare & Original 1939 dated ARP POST-WARDEN steel helmet. The hand painted white brim/rim shows the owner was a post-Warden. The style of marking suggests it is early as it pre-dates the 1942 regulations which standardised the way helmets were marked. The interior still has its pre-issue brown paper (albeit torn) liner covering. It is obvious this was from a period when khaki helmets were being issued has the interior of the crown is still khaki. Hand painted black. A really nice and original early war ARP/Air Raid Precautions steel helmet purportedly used in Sherborne, Somerset. Original chin strap.
