This is an original press photo. Autos - Mercury (Cougar). In 1977 - for the first time - the Cougar nameplate will encompass an entire family of cars, led by the sporty XR-7 and including two- and four-door base and brougham models and station wagons. All models will be united by the same vertical-theme grille and dual rectangular head-lamps. The four-door brougham (shown above) features a standard opera window and full vinyl roof. The 302-CID 2V engine, Select-Shift automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes are standard on all Cougar models except station wagons, which feature the 351-CID 2V engine. In California, the 351-CID 2V engine is standard, while Cougar station wagon use the 400-CID 2V engine.Photo measures 10.25 x 8inches. Photo is dated 9-24-1976.
