WW2 RAF IRVIN SHEEPSKIN FLYING JACKET. A nice used example of a later war multi-panel Irvin flying jacket, as used by nearly all RAF airmen during WW2.

A good used example, It has had some replacement cuffs added and new cuff zips at some point. Otherwise, it is in nice used condition. The main zip looks to be original and runs up and down nicely. The cuff zips as mentioned work nicely and are replacements. A couple of small areas of stitching have come undone on the seem tapes. We have photoed these, they aren't bad but a couple of small repairs could be done. The collar is again in good condition, with the strap and buckle still in place. The waist buckle and strap are again in good condition, with no issues to report. The panels of the jacket are again in good condition, with no rips or tears we can see. There is the odd scuff and scrape but again nothing serious. Most of the brown chrome finish is still intact with some wear.

Inside the sheepskin is again in good used condition, with some minimal loss to the bottom edge. Nothing to worry about. The jacket is labeled but it is well worn, a red B has been painted over it. The size is still visible however and is labeled as a 4, with a broad arrow as well.

The measurements for the jacket are:

Chest: 22 inches across

Waist: 20 inches across

Shoulder to shoulder: 20 inches

Armpit to cuff: 20 inches

Shoulder to cuff: 25 inches

Neck to bottom hem: 24 inches

It does display very well on a mannequin it must be said! It is ideal for an RAF display, collection, or museum.

Overall a nice used Irvin sheepskin flying jacket, ideal for any RAF display, collection or museum. Please ask any questions, and I will try and help. Postage is available worldwide, just ask for a quote first. Good luck and happy bidding! :)
