 Presented for auction is this stunning rare Antique 19th Century Mid Victorian 10ct Solid Gold Propelling Pencil & Dip Pen by Sampson Mordan & Co.

This stunning rare antique mid Victorian 10ct solid gold double action propelling dip pen and pencil is by the famous maker Sampson Mordan & Co, it has a fabulous foliate scroll chased body with stunning cast circular sliding buttons, one which extends the pencil out, one which extends the dip pen out and is finished with a bloodstone unengraved cap. It is engraved to the cartouche "Fr Lethaby-Morgan 12 Berkely Square", stunning quality item/craftsmanship. It is marked/hallmarked S. Mordan & Co along with the trademark Mordan Arrow mark denoting it is 10ct solid gold, please see all the additional photos as they form part of the description.

Measuring 3 1/2" long shut and 4 1/2" at its longest with the pencil fully extended approx. it is in excellent antique used condition with no dents, dings, splits or repairs, there is a lead and nib present with two spare leads inside the twist off bloodstone seal cap and it weighs all in a heavy 16.2grams by my electronic scales.
