Boer War era South Africa ZAR 1891 Impossible Dated Trench Art Enamelled Shilling

Many Z.A.R. coins were crudely made by Boer War serving soldiers or civilians who sold them as mementoes. This particular enamelled shilling is very rare because no Z.A.R. shillings were minted in 1891. The maker engraved that date anyway for reasons lost to history, so it is totally unique.

The colourful red and blue enamel is really bright and the coin has a suspension loop soldered to the top for jewellery wearing purposes as originally intended.

Superb condition and a must-have impossible dated piece for a collector of Boer War era South African Z.A.R. Paul Kruger artifacts.
