This modernist style 45mm bright lustrous copper papal medal
was struck in Poland ( Polish People's Republic 1952-1989 ) to commemorate the
trip of Pope John Paul II to Poland 2-10 June 1979.
Obverse: Half-figure of Pope John Paul II looking
straight ahead, with raised arms, the inscription JAN PAWEL II (John Paul II)
at the bottom.
Reverse: Fragment of a boat with a sail, below 2-10
