CIRENCESTER MATERNITY HOSPITAL - c.1955 "BABY BOOK" Pregnancy/ Expectant Mothers

A paperback booklet: "The Baby Book", published c.1955 by Newbourne Publications Ltd for the Maternity Hospital, Cirencester.  The book is set out in chapters covering the early months of pregnancy through to the final months, through confinement and once home how to care for the baby.  It has adverts for equipment - prams, baby baths, feeding bottles, etc.; medications and cleaning products; food stuffs; maternity wear; etc.  There is a chapter on knitting the layette and information on feeding routines and amounts of food, and a weight chart.  At the back there is a chapter on names and a brief history of names.
The book is complete with card covers; it has 51 text pages, interspersed with many advert pages (un-numbered).

Condition / Defects:

In very good bright condition; there is a short tear at the top of the spine cover.  The staples are rusty.  Contemporary inked additions on the list of items to bring to the maternity ward.
