ARTHUR HENDERSON'S RARE ELF ART, FIRST EDITION & FIRST BOOK of the Series!
These Wonderful Fantasy Tales of these little elves called Twinkies (sometimes misspelled TWINKLES) and of their town full of humanized insects and animals, first appeared as an advertising series published by the Hamilton Brown Shoe Co., St. Louis.
There were 4 books in all, written by Carlyle Emery, and the # 1 is the most difficult to find in EXCELLENT Condition.
Considered Very Scarce, this Obscure and difficult to find work was illustrated by Arthur Henderson, the Famous Artist of the VOLLAND Titles - "Little Babs" & "The Perhappsy Chaps" !!
This First Edition is an All Color hardback, in "Sunny Book" Format (6" x 8+"), is in EXCELLENT Condition, having Color Illustrated Covers, barely any wear other than a touch of spine tip wear -- very unusual to have no spine paper cover missing!
Binder is strong, Containing 32 (unpaginated) pages each with Henderson's charming Full Color artwork. NO NAMES, MARKS or DAMAGE, WONDERFULLY CLEAN!!.
This First title includes 3 Tales: Origin of the Twinkies; The Twinkies' First Home; and the Building of Twinkie Town.
This series and art work was supposedly the 1920's inspiration for the renewal of the Cupie Doll fad!
