Description

This is a flower vase with the name Ira designed by Jan Johansson (1942-), who has been working for Orefoss, a long-established glass manufacturer in Scandinavian Sweden along with Costa Boda, since 1969 and has left behind various attractive designs. It is a work made by one of the glass techniques unique to Orefoss, called Ariel technique, which was developed in the 1930s, and was limited to 25 pieces in the 1998 edition of Orrefors Gallery, which had been held regularly since around the 1980s as a place to present art pieces freely conceived by artists without the assumption of mass production. This is an extremely rare piece produced in a limited edition of 25 pieces. This is one of the three color variations, including lime green and yellow.

Weighing nearly 4 kg, even the thinnest part is nearly 2 cm thick, the deep blue color is matched with the thick glass, and the random arrangement of rings of air bubbles floating between them is fantastic and beautiful. The color and design of the piece are both deep and complete.

Height: approx. 6.6 in ■Diameter at the largest part: approx. 4.5 in ■Bore: approx. 3.1 in ■Bottom diameter: approx. 2.5 in ■Weight: approx. 3.7 kg ■Condition: Good condition with no cracks or chips, although there are a few minor scratches upon closer inspection. (Please judge from the photos for impurities from the manufacturing process, bubbles, etc.). The bottom of the piece is signed Orrefors Gallery-100, the artist's initials, the item number, and the artist's name. Original box is included.

The design is simple, but the cobalt blue color is deep and the random ring of bubbles is a fantastic piece. One of the charms of this piece is that it shows various expressions depending on the way it receives light and the angle at which it is placed. It is a simple piece that goes well with any category of interior design, and can be enjoyed not only for practical use but also by simply displaying it by a window. Whether you are a fan of Scandinavian glass or not, we hope you will consider this item.
