1983 Press Photo Worker loads PCB-contaminated equipment behind Jackson Brewery

This is an original press photo. Cleanup worker loads piece of equipment contaminated with PCB onto truck - Six large tanks of PCB-contaminated dirt and asphalt were loaded onto trucks behind the Jackson Brewery Tuesday evening in preparation for a late night removal, two months after the toxic chemical was discovered. About 50 gallons of contaminated oil spilled in early July while a demolition team clearing the old brewery for renovation removed eight transformers. Material contaminated by the oil was stored in sealed metal tanks beside a parking lot on the brewery site until Tuesday. Photo measures 10 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 9-7-1983.
