The purchase at auction of an old, badly damaged portrait thought to be Jefferson in 1937 led to this intense and detailed study of the different paintings of Jefferson done by Stuart.

The researchers, Orland and Courtney Campbell, have utilized minute and detailed analysis, including X-rays, to determine a chronological order of included portraits.


In Acceptable condition with moderate storage wear. Edge wear, fading, small tag peel on front cover, water stains, spine edge wear - head and foot splits. Corner bumping creasing. Paper tanning/soiling.


Worn, but all pages are intact and unmarked with the exception of the authors inscription and signature. Staple bound in good condition.
