Description:  A genuine and original silk woven bookmark by J.Caldicott of Coventry England the design by Owen Brothers of the same City. The bookmark was probably made for the 1864 Tercentenary of Shakespeare's birth and the scene is of the  'Birthplace of the Immortal Bard". It was made in the same way as Stevengraph bookmarks were woven on a jacquard loom. Caldicott is to be credited with the first weaver of bookmarks in Coventry - his first design being in February 1862 and 3 months before the first Thomas Stevens one. 

Size: 1.5 x 5 inches (approx.)

Condition: The colours (blue essentially) has faded with age and there is a small stain on the right hand side near his house.  No tassel

* The bookmark will be sent by Royal Mail Economy which can take up to 6 weeks to arrive but recent experience is 2-3 weeks. If there is a delay more than 42 days then please let us know.
