Crazy Low start price - and NO RESERVE...

This lot is for a terrific Seiko 7002 Automatic Scuba Diver's Watch, originally manufactured in June 1995. This authentic and original Seiko watch has been professionally serviced and expertly refurbished. The full Seiko caseback Reference Number is 7002-700J A1.

In excellent pre-owned condition, I've customised the Seiko dial in a smart sea-green, with a large full colour Mr Bean design.

I've fitted a new set of '6105' style hands, and a new scratch-resistant mineral crystal. The watch also has very smart new ceramic 'Sub' style bezel insert, a new chapter ring, and a brand new aftermarket Seiko 'Accordion' rubber diver's strap. The watch also features a 'Quickset' date window.

This classic scuba diver's watch has been professionally Serviced and regulated, and is running beautifully, keeping accurate time. The dual-finish steel case has been expertly polished and rebrushed, and is in excellent condition. The hands and dial markers have a luminous treatment. I'll provide the winning bidder with a full Seiko instruction manual (in a downloadable/printable PDF file).

A nice bonus with this one - my watchmaker has pressure tested the watch for water resistance, to a depth rating of 100M (10 BAR) - this means that the watch will be fine for use in water (shallow swimming, surface snorkelling etc). I would not recommend it for use in more robust activities (high/board diving, scuba diving, impact sports), and would advise against sustained use in hot water (sauna/steamroom/hot shower).

Please read on.

Dial/Hands  Seiko dial, customised in a handsome deep sea-green shade, featuring a large colour Mr Bean image to the left side. The dial is signed 'SEIKO, Automatic' to the upper right, and 'Made In Japan 7002-700L R Lightning Flash' below 6 o'clock. There are arabic dial numbers in a fancy italicised font, all with an applied luminous finish. There's a 'Quickset' Date window at 3 o'clock (in the rarer 'white-on-black' scheme). A minute-marker track runs around the new black outer chapter ring, which is set at an angle, so adding an impression of extra depth to the dial.

The hands are also new, in the terrific '6105 Deep Sea Diver style, blunted steel batons with a luminous fill. The seconds hand is a steel needle, with a 'traffic-light' paddle pointer, with red-dipped and luminous sections. The luminous treatment on the hands and markers has been upgraded, they glow nicely after exposure to light, and while it won't shine all night, the effect lasts for a little while, a nice bonus on a refurbished or redialled watch, which often have little or no 'lume'. Please see the gallery photos which show the luminous effect after brief exposure to a bright light.

Case The large dual-finish stainless steel case is in excellent condition, with minimal signs of use - in a satin-brushed finish to the upper surfaces, and a high-polish finish to the sides and back (I've had this expertly polished and rebrushed, and it has come up beautifully. Even up close, I can't see any dings or obvious scratches, tiny 'hairline' marks if anything). The case edges remain crisp and nicely defined.

Bezel Original bidirectional steel bezel, light/medium resistance, turns smoothly with 60 nicely ratcheted 'clicks'. It's in very good condition and has been fitted with a new ceramic bezel insert, colour-matched to the dial. It's designed in the 'Sub' style, printed with elapsed-time markings.

Caseback The screwdown caseback is in very good condition, again expertly cleaned and gently polished, with only negligible marks. The manufacturer wording on the caseback is clear and legible, and reads as follows: "Seiko, Stainless Steel, 7002-700J A1, Scuba Diver's, 560462, JAPAN, A, Lightning Flash symbol" plus the Seiko Wave logo in the centre.

Crown  I've fitted a new screwdown ridged-edge steel crown (and stem), which works perfectly. The case tube has been inspected, and is in good order.

Crystal I've fitted a new scratch-resistant mineral glass, which is clear and bright, with no marks of any kind (checked under magnification).

Movement Seiko 7002A 17 Jewel Automatic movement. I've had the movement professionally serviced and regulated, and the watch is running strong and true. All gaskets have been replaced.

Strap A brand new aftermarket Seiko Z22 'Accordion' ridged rubber Diver's strap has been fitted, with a floating keeper, along with a new brushed steel buckle. I've used 'Fat' Seiko spring bars, which are a much better fit for these Diver straps, and help to ensure that the case lug holes don't get worn and loose through excessive movement. Will comfortably fit a wrist size of up to 8.5" (220mm+).

Running condition Running, and keeping excellent time. As well as the full Service, I've regulated the movement, which has been checked using a professional timing machine. I've also 'bench-tested' the watch twice on an automatic winder, over at least 24 hours each time - the watch is running nicely, and is accurate to better than +/-30 seconds per day max. (anything under 30 seconds a day is excellent for a vintage automatic).

Measurements Width without crown - 41.9mm (45.9mm including Crown), Lug to Lug - 45mm, Depth 12.9mm. Lug Width 22mm. Weight total 100 grams.

To give you an idea of how the watch will wear on an average-sized wrist, have a look at the 'wrist-shot' pictures - the watch is shown with the strap sized to around 7 to 7.5 inches (180 to 190mm).

Other - This is a very smart Seiko Diver's Automatic watch, in a large 41.9mm, which wears quite proudly on the wrist as it's almost 13mm deep. Even though it's on a Seiko style 'Accordion' rubber Diver's strap, it's a hefty 100 grams, and feels solid and well constructed, with a substantial wrist presence. The 17 Jewel Automatic movement has been fully serviced and regulated, and is working beautifully, the watch keeps accurate time.

The Seiko dial on this model features a custom design, so you won't find them anywhere else!

Though pre-owned, this watch really is in very good condition, with only minimal signs of any use, and has clearly been maintained well. Plus I've had the dual-finish steel case expertly repolished and rebrushed - it looks terrific.

I'll send the winning bidder a downloadable/printable PDF File with the full Seiko instructions, which will show you how to change the date and maintain the watch etc.

This model is no longer available (and certainly didn't look like this originally), but I'm sure it will have cost more than my starting price - I'm starting my auction at just 99p, with NO RESERVE - you could get a top Seiko Automatic Scuba Divers watch, professionally serviced and expertly refurbished in a standout custom design (and pressure-tested too), at a real bargain price!

I've tried to be as accurate as I can in the description of this watch, please read the description and look at the photographs carefully.  You should study the photographs, which I've taken in close up detail - it will be enable you to evaluate the cosmetic condition far more accurately than I can describe it.

Any questions, please ask - I have described the item as thoroughly and honestly as possible - but I'll try and help if I can!

Please Note: The majority of watches I sell are pre-owned, or New, but Old Stock. Whilst I go to every effort to describe the watches accurately, you should be aware that should a watch be marked Water Resistant or Waterproof, that was the case when it left the factory, and is not necessarily the case now.  Unless specifically stated, these watches are not fully serviced (though they will have been inspected inside and out). Unless specifically stated, I offer no guarantees as to the current level of Water Resistance. If the winning bidder requires the watch to be Pressure Tested, I can arrange this for an at-cost fee (£25). Similarly, though I test all watches for accuracy and describe accordingly, this is no guarantee of future performance. Vintage automatic or hand-winding watches are by definition less accurate than their modern quartz counterparts. When purchasing a vintage watch, especially of high value, I would always advise the buyer to have the item inspected by a qualified jeweller, who should be able to identify any issues that I may have missed, and advise on water resistance, or servicing requirements.  Of course, should any issue then come to light, I will do everything possible to assist - as you can see from my 100% Feedback!
