DESCRIPTION

Up for sale here is a set of antique trade beads, in good condition, all sound. Great patina, and age related wear, which I have tried to show in the photos.

These beads have travelled from Europe to the African continent in the holds of sailing ships many years ago, and are now back again. Beads are one of the earliest forms of currency and trade beads such as millefioris have been made for centuries and played a significant role in colonial activities. They have historical cultural signifiance around the world and I am always happy to provide reference points for ebayers who are just starting to collect.

Please view the photos which been taken under high magnification to show the full condition of the item. The pictures form part of the description and show the size in centimetres or millimetres. You also will see an image of the item in my hand for scale.

COLOUR

I do my best to show the true size and colour of every item that I sell. Colours can be hard to judge from a computer screen. I ensure that there is a good colour match between the item and the photo when the listing is created, and I have shown the beads against a current Farrow & Ball paint chart in natural light, for reference.

You will also see a photo with a tiled background. This has been taken in natural light, next to my kitchen window.
