Curt Schlevogt (1869-1959)

Schlevogt was an American-born, Czech glass designer and entrepreneur. Schlevogt is best known for his Art Deco malachite glass vessels with relief-pressed nude figures and flowers, most commonly found in a jade green or apis lazuli color. These items were produced by Ingrid, a line founded by Curt's son, Henry Schlevogt. The Ingrid collection debuted at the spring trade fair in Leipzig in 1934 and later at the Chicago and Brussels world expositions in 1934 and 1935.

At the Leipzig Spring Fair in 1934, Schlevogt presented its glass mould collection under the brand name "Ingrid". The collection was open and gradually received new designs. The most artistically impressive were the result of the company's collaboration with leading artists such as Ladislav Přenosil, Zdeněk Juna, Franz Pazourek, Artur Pleva, M. Petrucci, E. Rottenberg and many others. The collection was initially dominated by toilet and flacon sets and later also by smokers, glass sculptures, vases, lamps, liqueur sets, devotional objects and tiny glass objects. The company gained fame and popularity among glass lovers.
