1973 Press Photo Muntz, Louisiana torn down for Mississippi River backup levee

This is an original press photo. An aerial photograph of the town of Montz, 25 miles up the Mississippi River from New Orleans, is marked to show where the river bank is eroding, causing the Corps of Engineers to move residents to make room for a new backup levee. Virtually all the town will be moved or destroyed. Photo measures 10.25 x 8inches. Photo is dated 04-04-1973.
