Description: An about uncirculated or better 1942 (1361 AH) Egyptian two piastres silver coin. The coin depicts the uniformed bust of King Farouk the first (the King of Egypt during the period April 1936 through July 1952) facing left with his name and the words King of Egypt surrounding it on the obverse. The coin shows the denomination in Arabic letters and the number 2 as well as the date, and the word "al-Mamlkah al-Masryah" (Kingdom of Egypt) all surrounded by a Lotus Flower decoration along the edge on the reverse. The coin has the reeded edge and retains quite a bit of luster. This is KM-365 and weighs approximately 2.7 grams of 83.3% pure silver. It measures approximately 19 mm in diameter. Mint: Egypt.
Size and weight: This is the round two piastres, weighs ~2.7 grams and is ~19 mm in diameter.
References: It is KM #365.
Condition: I would grade this coin as an about uncirculated or much better retaining quite a bit of luster. The coin has all of its details very well preserved with minimum wear commensurate with its about uncirculated state. The coin has bag marks, minor scratches and minor observable wear, commensurate with its age and circulated status. The coin has a stain or embedded soiling on the obverse in the center on the king's mouth. Other than that, the coin is problem free and is nicely toned. The coin is much better than the photos suggest. Please see photos for additional condition information.
