Premier designer Hector Quintana’s hand-thrown Mata Ortiz pottery is sought the world over. This exquisite piece is in excellent condition with intricate ‘Sgraffito’ (meaning ‘scratched’) artistry and will display beautifully. This is a medium-sized pot that measures 8.5” x 5” (at largest circumference). Mata Ortiz pottery originated in ancient Paquimé, Mexico; Paquimé meaning Casas Grandes and is now known as the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. Mata Ortiz pottery was a lost art until it was revived by Juan Quezada in the 1970’s, thereafter such pieces became museum exhibits and collector’s pieces.
